Vedic Math are very useful for fast calculations and to increase efficiency in math but Indian schools do not keep Vedic Math in the syllabi. There might be few reasons behind this. They are as follows -
- Our India was colonized by Britishers and we were forced to learn their conventions. You may search the history and find out that we had many things exclusive that the society had forgot due to the influence of westernization. Same explanation goes for Vedic math. Our education system pursues the western mannerism till now. As we know there is no sign of Vedic Math in western countries, our syllabus is also made without it.
- Another reason might be that Indian education syllabus wants to maintain secularism. Though knowledge and spirituality must not be presented under orthodox religious beliefs. Whatsoever religion it is, every discipline has something to share and that helps us to create a rich culture and multi-faceted heritage. So, Vedic texts can be integrated with our syllabus but still it is shadowed.
3. Indian education system bears a lot of politics. Bringing a new concept in the system also means that employment of new teachers in that subject which will make the government expend more money. After the New Education policy 2021, there is a high expectation. Vedic Math can be introduced if it can accommodate good faculty, scientific syllabus and proper assessment system.
4. Vedic math is a very old method thus some stereotypical people ignore it. New generation is much dependent upon the computers and calculators but fast mental math does only generate the power to do calculation in mind but also increase our problem solving , decision making power, aptitude and efficiency in any field.
I think these are four reasons for which Vedic Math
are not included in our syllabus.
But personally I also want it to be included in our syllabus.
